Stump Grinding
That old stump isn't just an eyesore, it's a trip hazard, a pest magnet, and it's stopping you from replanting or relandscaping. We'll grind it out below ground level and leave the area ready to use.
We offer emergency callouts, any time, across the South Coast.
Gone below the surface, not just cut back
We use professional stump grinding equipment to take stumps of any size down several inches below soil level, deep enough for turfing, planting, or paving straight over. Most domestic stumps are done within a couple of hours.
Digging a stump out by hand is slow, disruptive, and often risks damaging nearby paving, roots, or drainage. Grinding is faster, far less invasive, and leaves the surrounding area completely intact. Larger stumps, multiple stumps, or roots running under paths and driveways may take a little longer, but we'll always give you a clear time and cost estimate before we start.
Bonus: the resulting wood chip is genuinely useful as mulch or ground cover. Happy to leave it with you, or take it away, whichever you'd prefer.

Stump grinding, answered
How deep do you grind the stump?
Typically several inches below soil level, deep enough that you can turf, plant, or pave over the area without the stump causing problems later.
Can I plant a new tree in the same spot afterwards?
In most cases, yes, once the area's been cleared and backfilled. If you've got something specific in mind, mention it when you book and we'll make sure the job's done with that in mind.
How long does it take?
Most single domestic stumps are finished within a couple of hours. Larger or multiple stumps, or ones with roots under paving, may take longer, we'll give you a clear estimate upfront.
Is grinding cheaper than digging the stump out?
Generally, yes, and it's far less disruptive to the surrounding garden, paving, or nearby tree roots. Digging by hand is slow and can end up costing more in repaired paving or lawn.
